Eliminate "Container Rain" with Container Desiccants
XCEL partners with Clariant to offer customers a comprehensive range of container desiccant solutions.
As a global leader in desiccant and oxygen absorption technologies, Clariant Cargo & Device Protection is one of the largest manufacturers of bentonite-based desiccants for packaging applications.
Clariant’s Container Dri® portfolio provides versatile protection against humidity and moisture during intermodal transportation. Available in bags, poles, and strip formats, these desiccants can absorb up to three times their weight in moisture, transforming it into a thick gel that prevents leakage or dripping.
Preventing “Container Rain”
A key feature of Container Dri® II desiccants is their ability to control dew point. Dew point is the temperature at which condensation begins to form on surfaces such as container walls and ceilings. By actively removing moisture from the surrounding air, Container Dri II desiccants lower the dew point and help prevent condensation issues commonly known as “container rain”, “container sweat”, or “cargo sweat”.
Protecting Cargo in Transit
By controlling humidity levels inside containers, these desiccants help prevent conditions that can cause mildew, corrosion, warping, caking, and other forms of cargo damage. They are suitable for protecting a wide range of goods, including agricultural products, bulk foods, powders, wood products, glass, machinery, and metal components. Container desiccants help manufacturers and distributors safeguard product quality and maintain brand reputation during transit.
Ideal Usage Conditions
Container Dri®II desiccants are particularly useful when:
- Large volumes of air require moisture control
- High humidity levels are present due to climate, cargo, or storage conditions
- Containers are not completely sealed and external air may enter
