These desiccant bags are designed to protect products from moisture damage during storage and transportation. They comply with industry and regulatory standards including FDA, DIN, Mil-Spec, and JEDEC, and are commonly used in semiconductor dry packing, preservation packaging, and export packaging. Typical applications include electronics, food products, machinery, automotive parts, metal components, and other moisture-sensitive goods.

Clariant desiccants are packed in strong yet breathable nonwoven materials such as DuPont Tyvek® and are available in several types to suit different protection requirements.

Types of Desiccants

Desi Pak® (Bentonite Clay)

Desi-Pak® bentonite clay desiccants provide an economical and effective moisture adsorption solution. Made from calcium-rich montmorillonite clay, the layered structure attracts and binds water molecules to its extensive surface area. Even when saturated, the material remains dry and free-flowing without noticeable changes in size or shape. Desi-Pak® performs effectively across a wide range of humidity levels and can be reactivated for multiple uses.

Sorb-It® (Silica Gel)

Sorb-It desiccants are made from highly porous amorphous silicon dioxide that traps water molecules within microscopic channels. They remain dry and free-flowing even after absorbing moisture. Sorb-It is particularly effective at higher humidity levels where it adsorbs moisture faster than clay-based desiccants. These desiccants can also be reactivated for repeated use.

Getter Pak® (Activated Carbon)

Getter Pak products are designed to control unwanted odors and gases within packaged goods. Made from activated carbon, they feature a highly porous structure that attracts and binds volatile organic compounds and gas molecules, helping maintain product quality and freshness.

Tri-Sorb® (Molecular Sieve)

Tri-Sorb molecular sieve desiccants are the most aggressive moisture adsorbents in Clariant’s range. Made from synthetic zeolite crystals with uniform pore sizes, they efficiently capture water vapor and certain gas molecules. Their adsorption capacity remains stable across varying humidity levels, making them highly effective for applications requiring strict moisture control.

2-in-1 Pak® (Carbon + Clay or Silica Gel)

2-in-1 Pak products combine activated carbon with either bentonite clay or silica gel. This dual-action design simultaneously controls moisture, gases, and odors within packaging environments, offering comprehensive protection for sensitive products.
